Schools Hampstead has a wide selection of private schools, some among the best in the country. Best-known are University College School and South Hampstead High School, which take boys and girls respectively from age 5 to 18. Prominent among preparatory schools are Devonshire House, the Hall, Hereward House, Lyndhurst, the Royal, Saint Anthony’s, Saint Christopher’s, Saint Margaret’s, Saint Mary’s and Sarum Hall. Despite all this choice some parents still opt to send their sons and daughters to famous schools out of the area but within easy reach. These include the two City of London Schools (one for boys and one for girls), Westminster (boys but with girls in the 6th Form) and Northbridge House (mixed) in Camden. Among state schools, Camden School for Girls (which actually takes boys in the 6th Form) has a good reputation. |
